A well-paced first-person shooter featuring stunning visual effects,
somewhat unique gameplay, a wonderfully composed soundtrack, and a powerful
protagonist who in fact is nothing but myriad of bits and pieces of what was
once a person held together by a fantastically designed suit. The game includes
interesting OpFor, presenting both challenge and target practice, varying from
armed mercenaries to alien cephalopods, or Ceph. There quite a bit of technical
issues, however. The AI can be quite buggy at some points in the campaign, and
the background music can unexpectedly loop out of script. I did not encounter
these issues when playing on a hard copy of the game, so a direct download copy
can be a bit problematic for some. Overall, a great sci-fi shooter experience by
Crytek. And as for the technical issues I mentioned, that should be no reason
not to get the game, hard copy or not. This game's gonna be one for
the books.
