Destiny reviews

I just bought an xbox one with Destiny, and so far loving the xbox one itself. Destiny however has sadly been the victim of too much hype. Lets start with the good:

The game looks absolutely stunning on xbox one. I have played the Beta on xbox 360 and the xbox one version is vastly superior graphically. Definitely a great game to show off the graphical capabilities of a next gen console.

The shooting mechanics are very good and extremely satisfying. It is so much fun to play that I forget all of the negatives while I am at least playing the single player missions. The addition of the special abilities for each class is a real treat and the melee attacks are excellent.

The bad:

While stunning, the environments are generic, boring and surprisingly small given that Bungie have advertised this to be the next big open world game.

The story is average at best and Peter Dinklage's voice acting sounds like he lost a bet and is voicing Ghost for free

The competitive multi player is adequate, but no where near as fun as Halo, COD or even Titanfall.

The classes are too similar and there seems to be no reason to party with other classes as they all basically do the same thing.

The game is a very competent and fun sci fi shooter. But at least in my opinion, that's all it is. It is not the revolutionary online shooter MMO hybrid that Bungie told us it would be. If you are looking for a fun multiplayer shooter to kill 20–40 hours on, then Destiny is definitely worth it. But if you are looking for an immersive in depth world to explore and get lost in for hundreds of hours than you are better off looking elsewhere.

For those looking to get into destiny it should be made clear that the end game will be practically unplayable unless you buy each expansion when its released. No other game has ever done this. This disc without the dlc expansions is a shell of a game and is not the game it was even when released. A great deal of the content has been stripped and put behind this dlc expansion paywall. It looks as though the game will continue in this vain so if you can not afford to keep paying for each expansion then you will be left behind and the game you bought will keep being changed to attempt to force you into purchasing this dlc. This sort of anti consumer behavior in the gaming industry is ethically questionable to say the least. So if buying expect to have to fork out 40 – 70 dollars every few months just to keep playing.

Games alright, sort of a mix between halo and borderlands but not as fun as either. Good bits: Killing the baddies doesn't get boring and the bosses are fun. Bad bits: The crucible multiplayer seems slow and sluggish if you have Titanfall. Game can't be paused at all. No game manual. Skill tree seems like its trying to balance too much for single and multiplayer. Definitely not the revolutionary “Shared World Shooter” it was hyped up to be.

Fast delivery but a poster on heavy paper, folded up what a waste. Should have been rolled up!!

Thoroughly enjoyed it, great purchase the story is alright. But endgame is where the real fun is, seems to combine CoD and Halo for a fun experience, recommend it definitely

This game lacks story, great back drops thou. You have to play the same missions week in and out in the hopes to get somthing good. The chance of that are still slim, repeats of the weapons you have or got rid of pop up all the time. As far as the raids go good luck find a good team that aren't in a clan. Poor game AAA gaming has alot to answer for

Does this game have a story to it-. Well if it does I don't get it. Game Play good, especially if you do the missions with co-op.

This game has potential, but it's been one of the worst most frustrating gaming experiences I've ever had – per the forums I'm getting kicked off the server constantly (every few minutes) for a multitude of Bungie network error codes. As an online only game this means it's unplayable and wastes a lot of time and effort as you keep restarting your mission. Never seen this in any other online/multiplayer game I've played. Bungie should be issuing refunds the experience has been that bad.

This game is a huge dissapointment:( it has very little content, it just isn't worth it so maybe get it when it gets cheaper.

Good games hold their value both in dollar signs and in game play experience. This is one of them.

This game is amazing – I have spent many hours ranking up my character. This game never ends, it keeps growing and growing.

I'm sorry but this game is really bad ;(

This game was fantastic but unfortunately the large hype prevented this game from getting 5 stars from me. The story line was okay, the multi player is really well done with skill balancing, the environment was huge with a lot of replay value however all the hype caused an unjustified let down from an otherwise great game

Great game one of the best I've ever played

I found the story way to short, and very repetitive. Although now that I have good gear online is definitely enjoyable, and still can have a bit of fun with this game. Hopefully they improve it over time.

Everything about this game looks beautiful. Gameplay is fun, fast and great but, to really enjoy this you need at least 1 other person with to play the story missions with to get the most out of it. Its essentially an online multiplayer game, and if you try playing this game alone, you're gonna have a bad time…

Although it is an option to play alone, its not the best. There are thousands of people playing this game right now and its very easy to recruit other players who are the same level as you so you guys can go out an conquer the ‘Darkness’.

Overall, really fun game, just wish the hype wasn't as big as it was because its currently getting reviews because of it.

Great and quick service, I bought this for my brothers birthday but I was disappointed that the poster was folded not rolled up. It now has really bad creases. Game is awesome though!!!!

See, everybody wants the poster, for some dog gone reason you guys want the poster! you pay $10 extra Bux for that & I just don't get it, everybody should know when you order a physical copy of the game (case) it's going to be Folded up! oh well at least with Ghost Edition it comes rolled up…

This game is great fun, was just disappointed that the pre-order bonus of an A1 sized poster was folded up into a small A5 size package so the entire poster is covered in crease marks. I assumed it would have been sent in a cardboard tube. Might be nice to state next time how the poster will be sent, because bonuses sway people's decisions to buy from your store – but had they known it would be folded then they might have purchased the game somewhere else and with a different bonus.

Mean game to jam with the bros online. Shipping was fast and yeah, about that poster… Shouldve been rolled up aye.

If you are getting into Destiny, make sure you buy the Taken King legendary version and not this one. This is just the base game with no expansions so you will not be able to do anymore than what was available in September 2014. TTK has everything you need to access all that is current out. (Warning 20 Gb update will be required to play game bringing up to speed with current players).

Fun mindless shooter with “average” levelling system

I was wary of the game based on poor critical reception but it's a fun play. So far the story is a bit light but hoping this picks up. A FPS RPG is an interesting choice and I'm liking it.
