Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies reviews

Not the deepest plot or gameplay-wise, but a well-natured and charming rpg, and one that balances humor (if you dig puns) and epic moments. No real bad points.

Another great Dragon Quest game, this game introduced new features such as character creation and equipment changing the appearance of the character. A key addition is the Wifi update which gives you a internet updated shop (purchase items with in-game money; no real money or credits involved) as well as occasionally giving you an item as an event (like equipment worn by iconic characters of previous games).

This game has incredible replayability / length because of plenthora of side quests as well as changeable job system with cross-job ability / stat boost unlocks. Alchemy is streamlined with in-game recipe book and there are ALOT of alchemy items available.

Because characters are generated (by you), there are no character stories apart from yours. However, the lore and story of the game world is incredibly rich; most of which you can see through main and side quests.

Overall, if you are JRPG fan with a DS, you HAVE to play this game.

The one thing that i really enjoyed about this game is the option to avoid battles. This feature is so handy and i must commend the makers for that.

The graphics are amazing, a mixture of 2D and 3D if i'm not mistaken and the bright use of colour only enhances the experience.

The gameplay is spot on, you can do side quests when your bored or don't want to do anymore of the main story. This is very fun and you can download other content online.

The multiplayer looks promising although i haven't tried it yet but for a single player, this game is so exciting.

Sound and music is good and the ability to customize your character so overall i would rate this 8 out of 10 and suggest it to anyone dying of boredom.

So many side quests and dungeons that you'll never get bored~
