Improvement to marketing emails

Today we made an improvement to the way we send marketing email at Mighty Ape.

The change is designed to:

  • give you more visibility. Answer the question “why am I receiving this email?”
  • allow you to unsubscribe in a more granular way i.e. “I want to receive email related to Games that I’ve purchased, but not about Homeware that I’ve purchased”

Starting today, when you click Update your subscriptions from a marketing email sent by Mighty Ape, you will see a page that lists exactly why you received the email. The page will look something like the example in the image on the right.

In this hypothetical example, the you received the email because you purchased a product from the LEGO brand. If you're no longer interested in LEGO (!?) then clicking Unsubscribe from the LEGO brand will stop further emails being sent to you about LEGO.

The Unsubscribe from all Personalised Offers button will stop you from receiving any email that’s sent because of your purchase history, whether it be the LEGO brand, the Star Wars brand, a PlayStation game or any other product sold on Mighty Ape.

Finally, the Unsubscribe from all Mighty Ape emails will stop you from receiving any marketing email at all – including personalised offered, site announcements, Daily Deals and newsletters. Important transactional emails (e.g. your order has been dispatched, there was a problem with your order etc) will still be sent.

We believe email is the best way to keep you up to date with the best new products available on Mighty Ape. We also believe that sending email that you consider relevant and interesting is important for email to not feel like SPAM. We hope you enjoy receiving our emails – and this change should ensure we’re only sending you email that you wish to receive.
