EC Colours Product Review

We recently added the EC Colours brand to our range at Mighty Ape. Having young kids myself I was pretty keen to try it (and so were they). I was impressed with the huge range of vibrantly coloured acrylic paint, “finger paint”::https://www.mightyape.com.au/…eries/Finger, paint stampers, and tools that were available. As a parent, I'm always on the hunt for well priced, good quality, safe art supplies for the kids. So I was pretty excited when I heard that the paints were non-toxic and made in Australia. I was told that they are very washable. So naturally I wanted to put this to the test, and share the results with you!

Getting Ready

Now normally I wouldn't let my kids paint inside, and most definitely not in white tops. But there was a method to my madness. I was keen to make sure that these paints really delivered on their promise of being washable. Plus, there is also this huge and very heavy duty Splash Mat available which covered the entire 6 seater dining room table. After the kids had finished, the splash mat was very easily wiped down with a damp cloth. Its as clean as a whistle and should be good to go for the next art project or kids party.

Painting Is On!

So off we go, with so much to offer the kids really didn't know were to start but predictably the first port of call was the finger paint, there's something so irresistible about getting that muck all through your fingers! It went on the paper nice and thick and provided some lovely vibrant colours on their masterpiece's. I was more excited by the fact that it washed of their hands, with just water and left no colour residue on their skin!

The Stamper Pads were next up! The next best thing to finger paint but without the mess. These stamper pads come in 9 different vibrant colours, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the amount of paint hidden away in that sponge. We also used the Stampers to make shapes and create texture. These are so cool! That have so many use's! As they are also non-toxic and totally washable they would be great for a babies first foot print, and are perfect for hand prints! Again, they make very little mess, and after washing off with water leave no colour residue.

Both of the girls really enjoyed the Texture Wands they come in a pack of 4 and I have to say, they are the most solid and substantial tools I have ever seen. They created amazing texture and depth to their art and really allowed them to explore different patterns and use's. There are also some great Stubby Paint Brushes available. They are brilliantly designed for little hands, and stand up to some nice gestural artistic painting! We used a mixture of the Rainbow Acrylic Paint & the Pearl & Glitter Paint, which come in a total of 33 Colours! The colours are so vibrant, they don't soak through the paper and they dry well. Each paint comes in an easy to use 250ml squeezable bottle with a replaceable top.

The Masterpiece

Here's the end result – she was pretty chuffed, and it's now sitting pride of place above my desk at Mighty Ape!

The Cleanup

As if they didn't think that was fun, I then told them to paint each other – what a blast! I have to say I was a bit dubious about whether this stuff would come out, of a WHITE! top! I was wrong… I will let these pictures speak for themselves:

BEFORE
In my absent mindedness or perhaps distracted by the cleanup, I actually forgot to pop the shirts in the washing machine! It wasn't until the next morning that I remembered, by that stage the paint was nicely dry and I thought probably a permanent feature on their nice once white singlets.

AFTER
AMAZING!!! No colour residue, no evidence what so ever of paint on these white singlets, I kid you not..!
