"Do not buy if you want to learn."

Purchased on Mighty Ape

I like the game. Its a great idea but they didn't do a really good job. If you looking to learn, get a teacher. Rocksmith throws you straight into songs and explain some techniques. They start you off by just playing notes and gradually put in chords. The problems I find is what they've done with the difficulty, it gets harder as you get better. Which is not entirely true. While playing a song, if you are doing well it will change the difficulty while playing the song and most times you'll be hit by alot of notes to play. It doesnt slowly feed it to you. It will also throw chords into the middle of the song with out actually explaining how to play chords. This is irritating because you don't really expect what they going to give. The first chord I ever played in Rocksmith was a bar chord. They didnt explain it to me at all, I know how to play bar chords as I play guitar, but from a learners view bar chords are a huge obstacle and they just give it to straight in the middle of the song. Its a fun game but at times it gets frustrating. I do not recommend this if you want to learn how to play guitar because you will give up very quickly.

"Fun and worth it"
4 stars"

I’ve been playing for over 10 years, and I found it pretty straight forward to jump into though the interface does take some getting used too. The pitch recognition is accurate 99% of the time, though I’ve seen it get a bit confused with harmonics. If like me, you’re already a competent guitarist, you’ll want to jump straight into the riff repeater and level the songs up straight away. The arrangements are pretty solid and it has a fairly decent list of songs, though there is defiantly room for improvement here. Maybe not the best for an absolute beginner if you intend to use Rocksmtih as the only learning tool, as the tutorials are lacking. But if you combine this with some lessons, or if you already know your basics it's a will be a lot of fun. Oh, and get the Queen DLC it’s a blast!
