Imagine skiing down a slope on Mt. Hood when one ski tangles with an obstruction under the snow. That happened to Hugh Williams and this book relates the novel and unusual manner in which he was able to retrieve the highlights of those years he missed. He enters into an agreement with the staff of the nursing home where he had been confined for so many years. Hugh had lots to share with his caretakers as he had taken so many wonderful trips in his earlier years, one of which involved a trip across the Soviet Union in 1972 and included a 5,000 mile trip on the Trans- Siberian Railroad. Having kept a daily journal of this adventure, he was able to bring the trials and tribulations of a visit to communism to life. His interest in politics is borne out in every chapter and if one likes history, geography and government, occasionally sprinkled with a little humor, this book is a must read.
