"21st Century Breakdown is one hell of a masterpiece!"
5 stars"

I'm a huge Green Day fan so every album to me is good but 21st Century Breakdown is definitely one of the best albums Green Day has produced. 6 years was worth the wait coz 21st Century Breakdown could beat American Idiot any day. And to some who think that all of Green Day's songs sound the same, think again. There are some great melodic songs and some huge hard rocking pieces that you can jam too but either way, every song from the album is epic. Some amazing songs (and my favourites) from the album are East Jesus Nowhere and Before the Lobotomy.

Ahhh green day, they always seem to come out with something good, and this album is no exception, although it must be hard to find something to write about now that Bush is gone. Worth listening to the title track and the two Glorias (why 2 songs the same but with an ! and ? does wonder if they have just about lost it though)

Description

21st Century Breakdown is the eighth studio album by the American punk rock band Green Day. This will be Green Day's first album to be produced by renowned producer and Garbage member Butch Vig.

This album follows 2004's critically acclaimed American Idiot. Regarding the pressure, Billie Joe Armstrong said, "We could take a sideways step or go back to our roots. We chose to move forward. It's about reflecting what's been happening the past three years and putting it to melody with some bold statements." The band has also stated that "This album is more… religious," and it is influenced by Bruce Springsteen, The Who, The Beatles, The Clash, and Queen.

The release of this album marks the longest gap between releases of Green Day studio albums: almost 5 years. Green Day has been working on the album since 2006.

21st Century Breakdown is divided into three acts: "Heroes and Cons," "Charlatans and Saints," and "Horseshoes and Handgrenades," and follows a young couple, Christian and Gloria, through the mess and promise of the century so far.
