"Cutting-edge television in 2001 is now dated and overly OMG."

I was looking for something to fill in the winter evenings. I mean, you find a great HBO show, and then it's over in six episodes. So I thought, “Eight seasons with 24 episodes each, I'll give 24 a go.” Season 1 starts off hard work. You remember the waif look was in for women and that you didn't really like Kiefer Sutherland. And everything, every moment, is turbo-charged with jangling music, split screens and DRAMA. There's no light and shade to pace the plot. But I'm getting into it, and hoping that in a few seasons I might actually enjoy it.

"Absolutely nailbiting" Purchased on Mighty Ape

This is the most exciting series I have ever watched I am now on season 3 and still riveting, I cannot stop watching

"Exellent series amazing addictive watch"

Wow this was so great a series once I started I had to watch it right through. Can't wait to see all the other series.

"The first and one of the best"
5 stars"

The first hour of 24 is the best in the entire series and season one is arguably the best of them all. If you like fast-paced thrillers, then get your surround sound going and be prepared to spend 24 hours non-stop in front of the telly, cause this one is for you!

"Much Better on DVD"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Although the 24 ticking clock skips 5 or so minutes for the add breaks the intensity is much better on DVD. As a viewer you never leave the action you follow Jack Bauer in a long day full of tragedy. Catch every bullet and explosion on this amazing season every bit a good as the other 7+ seasons. The twists and turns of this season make it imposable to turn off!

"Fantastic and gripping series"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This series is a must to watch on DVD – not only are the ads gone, but you never miss an episode and risk skipping a vital clue or piece of the action.

Each episode is gripping, and the writers have strung out the tension and story arcs perfectly. You are always left wanting to see more. All of the characters are believable and well played, especially Jack Bauer as the head of the Counter Terrorist Unit. The series is a skilful balance between realistic action scenes and other, more thought-provoking conflict, often giving a fascinating insight into American politics.

A high-quality series that would capture a wide range of audiences.
