The 50th Anniversary of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I First Visit to the United States (1954 - 2004) is the only book that documents the historic first visit of an African Emperor to America. The book features a day-to-day, city-by-city chronology of the Emperor's visit that includes toasts and speeches given by the Emperor, as well as by President Eisenhower, UN Secretary General Dag Hammerksjold, various city Mayors, University Presidents, and military and church officials. The book includes more than one hundred photographs from the Institute of Ethiopian Studies in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as well as forty clippings from American newspapers. The book also contains an analysis of the Emperor's influence on the Brown vs. Board of Education decision that was passed just eight days before His Imperial Majesty's arrival in America, as well as the siginifigance of the Emperor's visit in American and African American History.

Author Biography:

Ras Nathaniel graduated from Yale University in 1996 with a B.A. in Philosophy and has traveled to more than twenty countries on four continents. He has worn the dreadlocks covenant of Rastafari since 1993, and established the Issembly for Rastafari Iniversal Education (IRIE) in 2000 as an educational ministry serving the Rastafari Family Worldwide. In 2003, Ras Nathaniel studied in Ethiopia as a Fellow of the African Caribbean Self Help Foundation and journalist for the Rastafari Speaks newspaper, covering events at the African Union, the Economic Commission for Africa, and the Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank.
