Having been a great fan of Mr Feist in the past I looked forward to his latest series. Unfortunately… the plot lines jump… ie Magnus replaces Pug making absolutely no sense to half the previous story line. I don't know whether to blame the 3 editors who worked on the book or Mr Feist for allowing it to be published with such glaring mistakes.

This book is so captivating and highly detailed, its a wonderful read. I'm ready to get immersed in the chaoswar saga. I would recommend it to anyone, and would also recommend any of the authors other books. I have read them all, and they are all just as fascinating.

Description

Discover the fate of the original black Magician, Pug, and his motley crew of agents who safeguard the world of Trigia, as prophecy becomes truth in the first book of the last ever Midkemian trilogy.

“…This novel is the work of an author renewed, presenting the fifth and final Riftwar…among the best that the author has written.” – SF Site

The Darkness is coming…

The Kingdom is plagued by rumour and instability. Kingdom spies in Kesh have been disappearing – either murdered, or turned to the enemy side. Information has become scant and unreliable; but one thing appears clear. Dark forces are on the move…

Since Pug and the Conclave of Shadows enforced peace after the last Keshian invasion, the Empire has offered no threat. But now factions are rising and Jim Dasher reports mobilizations of large forces in the Keshian Confederacy. As the men of the West answer the King's call to muster, Martin conDoin – left as caretaker of Crydee Keep – will suddenly be confronted with the vanguard of an invading army. He reminds himself that he is a year older than his legendary ancestor, Prince Arutha, was when he stood firm against the Tsurani invasion, but Arutha had an army to command, and Martin is left with old men and young boys.

Massive events are about to unfold, events which threaten the future of all human life in Midkemia…

Reviews

“A Kingdom Besieged is a long, long way from where Raymond E. Feist began. Yet it manages to feel fresh and bursting with energy, while simultaneously pulling off the trick of seeming familiar. It's an illusion worthy of Penn and Teller. This novel is the work of an author renewed, presenting the fifth and final Riftwar, determined to go out at the top of his game. I really hope that the momentum and quality continues, as the beginning is among the best that the author has written.” – SF Site

“Originality and wit a rollicking tale Feist’s narrative skill, ingenuity at creating systems of magic, and eye for plausible militaryscenarios stand him in good stead. His many fans will be pleased.” – Booklist

“Fast action, appealing characters, and a splendid setting will delight readers of fantasy and leave them eager for the next battle.” – Kirkus
