"Brit Boys Take The Cake On Tasteful Pop"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Having not been a huge fan of the Arctic Monkeys, I was mightily impressed when I heard tunes such as ‘R U Mine-’ and ‘Knee Socks’ and subsequently bought the album. In an age where timeless music seems to be a virtually forgotten art, it is refreshing to hear a modern band taking the quirky, sonic trends of modern music and the sultry, moody swing of classic acts such as Bob Dylan and The Beatles to piece together a supposed ‘masterpiece’. The band are never sort of luscious or subtle melodies or elegantly layered rhythms that highlight Alex Turner's silky smooth and effortless voice. The overall timbre is pleasing to the ear and no, not every song sounds the same. I would definitely recommend this album to anybody.

"I slight change to the Monkeys' music"
5 stars"

This is still Arctic Monkeys gold, just mixed in with a hint or more modern/mainstream ‘pop-rock’. It's still their signature music but if you're a logn time fan of their previous 4 albums this MIGHT turn you off a bit. Personally I started out with this album (and loved it) then went back and explored their older albums and THOSE ARE FANTASTIC! I still enjoy this album but it's no longer my favourite. It's not worse than the other albums, just a little bit different.

Description

AM is set to be Arctic Monkeys biggest global record release since their debut album in 2006.

The album features bona fide radio & chart hit ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ – the band’s biggest single since 2005’s ‘I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor’. AM follows 2011 album Suck It And See (32K + sales to date, #4 chart debut) and is Arctic Monkey’s fifth studio album.

AM was produced by James Ford and Ross Orton at Sage & Sound Recording, LA and Rancho De La Luna, Joshua Tree; and engineered by Ian Shea and mixed by Tchad Blake.

Josh Homme, Pete Thomas and Bill Ryder-Jones all make guest appearances on ‘AM’ – as do the words of John Cooper Clarke, on the track I Wanna Be Yours.
