This one bombed at the US Box Office so we were denied the special and all to infrequent treat of a Michael Mann movie on the big screen. This blu-ray will therefore have to suffice. Blackhat is not Mann's best work – you need to look at Last of the Mohicans, The Insider and the illustrious Heat for that. But still- Mann near his best is still a great thing. This film utilises his trademarked close to the action cinematography and even though it is a film about cyber crime the technique is used to great affect in several shootout action sequences. I am biased because Mann is my favourite director but this movie was unfairly ignored on first release. it is exciting, supremely well shot and edited and deserves to be seen and appreciated.
