Damian Marley, son of legendary reggae artist Bob Marley, was thrust into the reggae music scene at birth. Although his father passed away when he was only 2-years-old, Damian grew up and upheld his family name, which is synonymous with reggae music in Jamaica. Damian, or Jr. Gong as he is known to many, garnered mainstream success with the hit song “Welcome To Jamrock” in 2005. He was well-known and well-respected way before 2005, though, as is evidenced by the Grammy Award he won in 2002 for best reggae album, Halfway Tree. Damian went on to merge reggae with rap when he released Distant Relatives with hip hop artist Nas in 2010. The critically acclaimed album was extremely well received by both fans and press alike.
Bonnaroo Live is Jr. Gong's full live set from the Bonnaroo Festival in 2006. It includes many of his greatest hits and covers of some of his father's most famous songs. Any fan of Damian Marley and reggae music will love this live concert, as he puts forth a performance that only a true Marley can.
