"Outside contender for Game of the year"
5 stars"

Seriously awesome game. A must have for fans of FPS's and gamers who appreciate brilliance. Funny, smart and cool. Everything about this game oozes class, Multiplayer is done extremely well. If it wasn't for high profile games like COD and Forza series. This would have a serious shot at game of the year.

"gun loving madness"
5 stars"

i have played this game for a decent go, and still i have yet to find a gun that is the same as i have found in the past. this game is huge and wickedly fun if you play it in co-op.

"Don't think of it as an RPG."
3 stars"

It's not much of an RPG, in fact it's best not to think of it as a role playing game at all. Think of it as a shooter with some role playing elements because it's definitely aimed at the shooter market, and not the role playing market. It's also very much a console game. For instance there's no save function. It auto saves here and there. And when you die it respanws you at a New-U station, which is a device that stores your genetic makeup and recreates a new version of you when you die, complete with all your equipment, not to mention your memories. Basically just an attempt to make an ingame excuse for what is basically player spawn. This isn't necessary in a single player game and I can't tell you how much I hate it. I guess the designers had multi player in mind but I would have preferred a save anywhere then reload when you die setup. Too much to ask though I suppose.

Another reason the role playing is paper thin is the very limited dialog and NPC interaction. There is no dialog that doesn't involve a quest. "Skags bit my leg off. Would you go get it for me? Yes/no.” You certainly won't be spending any time chatting to various passers-by on the current state of planetary affairs or anything. For one reason there are hardly any NPCs in the game (judging by the four hours I played). The first settlement you come to, Fyrestone has ONE resident.

It also doesn't have much of a story. There's a rumour that somewhere on the planet lays a hidden, ancient alien vault packed with all kinds of treasure. And you have to find it. Wow, I wonder how long it took them to come up with that.

Ok, so it's a combat game… fine. The combat is actually quite fun. Guns are satisfying loud and have a nice kick. There are various human and animal enemies to tackle. But the problem I have with the combat is the respawn. Take these Skag dens (sort of like wild dogs) scattered all over the place. You kill them all, go over and search the skag "piles” for loot then head off. The next time you pass that way the skags and their piles have all respanwed, so you have to kill them all again. And search the piles again. There's a bandit camp near the settlement and a continuous stream of bandits issue from it. So every time you enter or leave the settlement there are half a dozen bandits for you to kill… over and over again. Oh what fun.

Another minor niggle is the amount of loot, cash and ammo containers. There are containers everywhere you go. I got so sick of it. Open that box get the ammo, open that box get the cash, open that box get more ammo… on and on. And they respawn so you have to keep doing it. Ok, there's no rule that says you have to check all the boxes but I just can't walk past a container without seeing what's inside it. But you'll need the ammo because you use a lot (a LOT) in combat. There's never one or two skags, there's always eight or nine. And there's never one or two bandits, there's always half a dozen or more.

There are hardly any game options. If you don't like the damage bar over an enemies head… tough. If you don't like the stream of damage floaters that come out of an enemy when you shoot it… tough. If you don't like all the icons on your compass pointing out the location of loot, enemies or your next quest goal… tough. You can't adjust anything.

I did like the atmosphere and the music. And there are missions to do which is great, and is so much more fun than simply fight-your-way-to-the-end-of-the-level kind of thing. But I still got bored very quickly. I played it for about four hours but I got so tired of killing the same pack of skags over and over, and the same bandits over and over, so I quit.

It's not bad, but if you like more serious role playing games, and tend not to like casual console games (or like me you just despise resapwn, both enemy and yourself) then I'd suggest you rent it before you buy. I'm certainly glad I did.

"Super extreme amazing."

When i preorderd this game i wasnt to sure about the graphics but after playing for a few hours i must conclude that i love the graphics and im sure anyone else will as well. The gameplay is super cool with lots of great ideas and lots of cool guns. The enimies you face are wiked cool and will quickly over whelm you if your not carefull. The co-op is very smooth, i encounted no lag and its fun teaming up to take down a massive boss. So to conclude this game is super extreme amazing. I highly reconmend this game to anyone (above 18).

"Addictive hugely entertaining Co-op!!! LOVE IT!!!"
5 stars"

I've never had such an engrossing and addictive Co-op experience in my gaming life, me and my mate hired this out one rainy Sunday and we've become so addicted that now we have a Booze & Borderlands night every week, we've spent more than the games worth renting it so we've decided to buy it now. Excellent game peepz, Extraordinary Co-op!

The graphics on this game are a bit different, almost comic book style. I actually really like them for a change from all the full on graphics. Luv the game!

"If your looking for replay-abilty... don't get this."
1 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

If your looking to play a game that has 50+ hours of game time, then don't get this. I have played through the game twice and don't really intend on ever playing it again. Firstly, the first play-through is great fun and kept me very entertained but when it got to playing it again to try and reach level 50 it got boring fast. The missions that you may have enjoyed the first time would've become boring and repetitive. Also, the story is completely rubbish. I could explain what happens in one short sentence. For an “RPS”, I would expect for it to at least have a decent story.

Overall this game lasted me between 30–35 hours and I intend to never play it again

"Great game...."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Great game, the level system and picking up gun that require you to level up to use just keeps you going and going, co op mode is a hell of a lot of fun with ya mates, the option of a 2nd playthrough with tougher enemys keeps its safe place in your gaming draw. The graphics are cell shaded and look beautiful and suite it extremely well. Story isnt something to rav about but isnt to bad none the less.

"Artistic Masterpiece"

The Art style in Borderlands is truly in a class of its own, the dark outlines make the landscape pop out and creates a immersive experience that only borderlands can offer

"A better than expected, great fps adventure!"

Better than expected. A great fps adventure that sucks you in for one more mission.. and don't let the cell shading scare you off as you get used to it within a couple of minutes and actually grow to like it as you continue playing.

"Ownage"
5 stars"

Whether you like shootin' feral skags up close, or sniping them from afar, this is the game for you. Fight your way through this rpg based shooter, leveling up through the ranks, earning skills and money. Borderlands is a well thought out game, with all shooter elements and rpg elements packed into one, Providing you with questing, exploration and a easy to use talent system. Be the brutal “Brick” and bash your way through enemies with your hands, OR rocket launchers. Be the “Siren” and walk straight through your enemies. The “Sniper” and headshot enemies from afar. Or the “Soldier” and Burn enemies down in close range with shotguns and assault rifles. All in all, this game is extremely fun and addictive.

"Very good"

Worth every penny, fun and addicting. Can be a bit glitchy, and there are still bugs that could be easily fixed but they don't ruin the gameplay at all. Must have

"Hours of fun!"

Great multiplayer fun, long, exciting gameplay. Great replay value, this game will entertain for hours and hours.

"If a role playing game & first person shooter game had a baby"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This is one of the most exciting games to play on xbox. You can level up your character just like a role playing game while in a first person shooter game. the makers of borderlands came up with such an awesome yet simple idea which not many other games have delivered before. This game is terribly additive with countless combinations of weapons and weapon mods, you would want to collect them all! See you on Pandora!!!!

"This game will keep you entertained for a long time."

After a year of owning Borderlands it is still one of my favourites. Borderlands is a RPG/FPS set on a mad max style alien planet. Gaming elements are borrowed from RPGs such as Diablo, with the ability to level up your character and his/her abilitys, collect randomly generated loot and the ability to join three other players in co-op gameplay. These RPG elements are merged with a FPS style of game like Halo or Call of Duty. The games main storyline and side missions take a reasonably long time to finish and then you have the option to replay the game with your leveled character with higher level enemies and loot. I have played and finished many other games in the last year but I always find myself coming back to borderlands when I have nothing to play. Gearbox have released three expansions over xbox live for Borderlands; one of which increases the level cap. One more expansion is also in the works. This game can be played through single player but the most fun is to be had playing online or split screen with friends. Overall I would definitely recommend this game as a must buy as one of my favorite xbox360 games.

"Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw Was WRONG!"
5 stars"

I decided to watch the Zero Punctuation review of this game before buying it. Yahtzee declared it was only any good in multiplayer because then the boss didn't beat the heck out of you. He was wrong. This game is BRILLIANT! With it's innovative art style, brilliant combat systems and over 17 million weapon possibilities (before the Unique boss drops) this game is well worth the cost. Especially if you buy the Double add-on pack. DO IT! Before you regret it!

"Buy one for a friend also!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Borderlands is a fantastic blend of First Person Shooter and Role Playing Game. Unlike Fallout 3 (which is great also) the action in Borderlands is thick and fast and is exciting as any FPS available now. The RPG elements enrich the experience as you level up your character, gaining new abilities and weapons (oh and there are HEAPS of weapons – literally thousands!) Where Borderlands really shines is multiplayer. To get the best out of Borderlands it's best to experience it with a friend or friends (up to four player co-op). Every Thursday night is Borderlands evening in my house, where myself and two friends blast, drive, crash, kill, loot, bash and level. Seriously this is a must have. It also has a few awesome DLC packages that increase your level cap and introduce new areas, enemies, and vehicles. Get this now!

"Excellent 2 player fun"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This is a first person RPG/shooter game with a good storyline plus lots of extra quests. It's got a wide area to explore and is not linear which is nice. Fun to play single player, but I enjoyed it even more as a 2 player with my husband. It's possible to play it past the finale once and you can get some add on modules to extend your fun. Make sure the kids are in bed before you play it though, it may be arty looking in some ways, but is still very graphic and is not suitable for children.

"Fantastic experience esp with friends"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I brought this game on the basis of a few online previews and screenshots. The game itselfs owes alot to world of warcraft and diablo for the item database, and the questing and dungeons only confirm that. It puts its own unique spin on the genre through the FPS style gameplay.

Graphics are unique and very eye catching because of it. The game does have replayability, but it is limited towards multiplayer, as the game gets a little boring after a playthrough on your own.

A game best played with a mate or 3.

"Fun Exciting and Enjoyable"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

An extremely fun game with a bazillion guns and a variety of enemies. Four cool character classes to choose from. Not quite as good as i expected it to be and the mutliplayer is not as fun as it is made out to be in reviews. But still entertaining. Fun boss fights and also very challenging.I would recomeen this game as a good single player fps.
