Bursting with patriotic spirit, Katherine’s album pays tribute to Her Majesty The Queen on her 90th birthday, with such songs as ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’, which was the most popular song in the year the Queen was born. There is also a full rendition of the national anthem in its rarely-heard, three-verse form. Katherine will be performing, by request, at the Queen’s birthday celebrations at Windsor Castle in May, and will be giving her own celebratory concert at the Royal Albert Hall in June.
The album is also Katherine’s first since having a baby, and opens with the poignant song ‘This Mother’s Heart’. Katherine commissioned this new song as a gift to the Queen. She is also donating her album advance to The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust. Katherine works closely with a number of charities – she is a trustee of The Invictus Foundation, Care after Combat and British Forces Foundation, travelling to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Cyprus and Northern Ireland to entertain the troops.
‘Celebration’ is a joyous collection of the greatest music from the United Kingdom, combining 7 new tracks with 13 favourites selected by Katherine from her hit recordings. It includes such beloved tunes as ‘Rule Britannia’, ‘Jerusalem’, ‘I Vow To Thee My Country’, ‘Ae Fond Kiss’ and the Welsh national anthem ‘Land Of My Fathers’ – a song very close to Katherine’s heart. Her gliding vocals can also be heard on ‘World In Union’, ‘Amazing Grace’ and the powerful ‘How Great Thou Art’, which was voted the nation’s favourite hymn.
