"A Spiritual moment"

Of all the Versions I have seen of this story this one is the best! Little Lucy is sooo! Cute, and I loved the way Edmond was protrayed, Enchanting, Magical and Spirtual a great combination, The battle scenes made me shed a tear or two, Liam Nielsens Potrayal of Aslan is Awesome, he bought out the wisdom the gentleness of his humility and the kingley power of such a mighty Beast this Dvd is a must for your collection, I have got prince Caspian on order and really looking forward to watching that.

"Narnia meets Middle-Earth"

While the book is essentially aimed for younger children, the movie version is positioned for an older audience. The imagery and special effects are great, and Narnia is truly brought to life in this stunning visualisation of CS Lewis' classic. Some of the scenes are a little odd – the dramatic escape from the Beaver's dam and the introduction of the fox character seem a little unnecessary, and Mr Tumnus seems to display a strange and disconcerting ‘dirty-old-man’ vibe in his first meeting with Lucy, but putting those small matters aside this film is actually pretty good. My one other beef is with Tilda Swinton whose portrayal of the White Witch was not flash, despite the ravings of the critics! The amped-up battle scenes make for a more exciting and visually spectacular film, and the effort put into creating the beasts and creatures is put to good use. The film has a quiker pace than the Tolkein trilogy, and while the battles in particular can seem somewhat reminiscient of Peter Jackson's masterpiece my personal opinion is that this is the better film. Highly recommended.

"Well made movie, just awesome"

A well made movie a little like lord of the rings as far as special effects and creatures, but true to the book and worth watching again

Description

Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (1 Disc)

Set in World War II England, C S Lewis' timeless adventure follows the exploits of the four Pevensie siblings – Lucy (Georgie Henley), Edmund (Skandar Keynes), Susan (Anna Popplewell) and Peter (William Moseley) – who enter the world of Narnia through a magical wardrobe while playing a game of hide-and-seek at the rural estate of a mysterious professor.

Once there, the children discover a charming, once peaceful land inhabited by talking beasts, dwarfs, fauns, centaurs and giants that has become a world cursed to eternal winter by the evil White Witch, Jadis (Tilda Swinton). Under the guidance of a noble and mystical ruler, the magnificent lion, Aslan, the children fight to overcome Jadis' powerful hold over Narnia in a spectacular, climactic battle that will free Narnia from her icy spell forever.
