This movie was acted very well, showing the power of movies upon everyone. We see a young fatherless boy entranced by what he sees on screen but also by he mechanics of the movie projectionist. He befriends the older man who gradually becomes a father figure for the boy. We follow through the years as the boy experiences first love and army life and leaves the village to gain a career. He only comes back for the funeral of his old friend and discovers his lost love.

Description

Now available in this deluxe widescreen director's cut, one of the most loved films ever to grace the screen can now be enjoyed on DVD. The story of a lifelong love affair with the movies, Cinema Paradisco tells of a young boy in a small Itilian village, where the only past time is a visit to the movies at the Cinema Paradisco. Enchanted by the flickering images, Salvatore yearns for the secret of the cinema's magic, and is overjoyed when Alfredo, the projectionist, agrees to reveal the mysteries of movie making to him. As their friendship grows, so does Salvatore. Growing older with his good friend and the movies he adores, he learns from them both how to court his first love. He also dreams of making his own films one day. When the day comes for Salvatore to leave the village, Alfredo makes him promise to never look back, just to keep moving forward. Slavatore does just this - for 30 years. Until one day, a message arrives that beckons him back home.... "1989 Academy Award TM Winner. Best Foreign Language Film." "Breaking through anti-arthouse prejudice with its simple love of cinema, this become one of the most popular foreign films ever released." -- EMPIRE UK "A sweet hymn to the romance of cinema." -- TIME OUT.

Best Picture BAFTA Winner 1991.
