"Good Splattery Fun!"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The original Deadspace surprised me back when it was released. I didn't think it would be my cup of tea, but I bought it anyway as I was itching to play a game a bit different to my normal selection. The graphics were great, the sound was excellent, and there was a kind of tongue-in-cheek humour to the horror element that kept the game interesting.

Deadspace 2 has much the same mix of these ingredients, but I felt more interested in the characters this time around.

One of the best features carried over from the original is the ability to upgrade armour and weapons, and trade unwanted items for cash or useful stuff (power nodes, ammo and health). This RPG element is always a winner for me, as it keeps the player feeling like they're doing something productive… Creating a zombie killing uber-mensch!

Great death animations are fun, and the cut-scenes are all involving (I didn't spend any time trying to skip them, so they must be doing a good job of involving me in the story).

Great graphics, excellent sound, engaging atmosphere, and more than a couple of adrenaline inducing moments make for some good splattery fun!

"Still Just As Heart Pounding As Ever!"
5 stars"

If you liked the original dead space, then you will love this. It's still just as scary as the the original, only they have introduced new scenarios like fighting for your life whilst you're stuck hanging upside down.

The story line carries on from the original, the marker has taken it's toll and you're suffering from dementia, it takes place on ‘titan station,’ (one of saturns moons). I don't wanna spoil it to much, so i'll just say, it's full of surprises. But the story line is very intriguing.

The introduction of the rocket powered boots makes fighting in zero gravity a blast, 360 degree movement and it's easy to control as well. The classic stomp still exists so you can take out your anger on those sneaky necromorphs.

You still have the reliable plasma cutter and line gun etc. Only they've introduced a few more weapons like the javelin gun (The most enjoyable gun yet). A few more necromorphs are in the game as well, like seekers (you really have to out smart these guys to beat them).

And last but not least, MULTIPLAYER! you can play online, the aim is to dismember you friends… Sadly I havn't been able to play the multiplayer yet since I havn't got round to buying online since it ran out.

If you liked dead space, then buy this, you can tell that they put in that extra time and effort to make a game that really keeps you wanting more, but at the same time, scared the jahebes out out me.

"Best Space First Person Shooter to date"
5 stars"

Dead Space was surprisingly good for me. So when I got Dead Space 2 from Mighty Ape, my expectations were already high.

I'm glad to say, Dead Space 2 surpasses Dead Space in a huge number of departments:

  1. Isaac has a voice now – you could identify with him much better
  2. You start the game running! Your heart will start pumping the very first second you take control of Isaac. I won't spoil it for you, but what a heck of a start!
  3. The graphics are much better, cleaner, crispier
  4. The story is riveting – like a really good book, you won't be able to stop playing because you will want to find out what happens round the corner
  5. Variety in gameplay – it's not just about shooting, it's about using the right ammo, mix of weapons (stasis, long range, short range, kinesis, etc.)
  6. Heavy weight stomp! This is the only FPS I've played where I really enjoyed stomping on those necromorphs
  7. Huge variety of weapons depending on your preference of play.
  8. You get to play a 2nd play through on “new game+” which starts you off with whatever equipment I've collected in the 1st play through! Awesome!

Roll on Dead Space 3! Superb!
