If Twilight is a little too tame for you, this is the next step. Having seen the TV series, I seriously recommend reading ‘Dead Until Dark’, which is what Season 1 is based on. It differs in that its a little less raunchy (though still far from PG) and some of that characters are not as explored, but its still an essential read and absolutely addictive.
I was a bit skeptical in purchasing this book, but after many friends pestering me to “just try it out” and “give it ago” I folded to their demands and picked up ‘Dead Until Dark’ at the local book store. I'm usually not one for the whole vampire scene but I must admit I found myself enjoying it to the point that I had read the whole book in one day! Sookie is absolutely an adoreable strong young woman who definately knows her worth, I am in complete awe with her character. Charlaine Harris has done a superb job with the Sookie Stackhouse books.They're sexy, witty and abosulute delight to read.
