Description

Spawnbreezie is back. The Urban Island artist from Independence, Missouri is back at it again with a third album dropping this month. Entitled Dear Billy, this new album definitely shows Spawnbreezie’s emergence and growth as a music artist.

Since taking on music professionally in 2006, he has performed shows with various Polynesian artists in the U.S. His first two albums, Independence Soldiers and Welcome to Zion, helped him to attract fans and build a fan base. While seeing the fruits of his musical efforts, Spawnbreezie also saw and experienced the downside of the music industry with failed promotions and management signings. The most recent passing of his father almost led the singer to leave his career altogether. He told his mother and family that he was ready to give up. His mother, however, gave Spawnbreezie words of encouragement that helped him put his life into perspective. “She told me that my father wanted this [musical career] for me; He wanted it even more than I did. He wanted to be at every performance but because of his old age was never able to come. Now that he’s passed, his spirit will be wherever I perform.” He recalls the biggest lesson that his father ever taught him was to be a man of his word in everything that he did – as a musician, as a son, and as a father to his children.

Dear Billy is a compilation of songs pertaining to different stages and situations in life. “After Another” talks about struggles with alcoholism and other addictions while Dear Billy addresses his independent movement as he is not signed to any specific management or label. Dear Billy talks about how I refuse to sign with anyone if [the deal] is not able to take care of my kids,” said Spawnbreezie. He is serious about his career and is ready to take it to the next level. He also features some new Polynesian talent on three tracks – the upbeat “I’m in Love” features Celle, “Main Squeeze” features Teeh and “Oh My Goodness” features Big Steve. Both Teeh and Big Steve are singers from Missouri and are a part of Breeze Camp. Spawnbreezie says he is most proud of this third album and is excited to perform these new songs for fans. The Dear Billy Album Release Tour already commenced this past Friday in Tacoma, WA and will continue on to Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Anaheim, Las Vegas, select cities in Arizona, Utah, Texas and finally end in Missouri.

When asked about the future of his music career, Spawnbreezie gave The WhatItDo an exclusive for its readers, announcing that he will go mainstream after the release of Dear Billy. His decision to go mainstream after his third album was well thought out. “I knew that I couldn’t just jump the gun without a good fan base,” he explained. These three albums were solely dedicated to the Polynesian community and he hopes that they will continue to follow him as he makes the transition. The WhatItDo is behind Spawnbreezie 100 percent on this endeavor! (Whatitdo)
