"2 Cybermen adventures from 2 classic Doctors "
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This is a great box-set to buy, mainly because of the Second DVD, Silver Nemesis. It's got a great storyline, and is far easier for the average fan to follow than anything in the third season involving Sylvester McCoy as the Doctor.

The concept of this story revolves around three distinct threats to the earth, each representing a group that should never be allowed to seize power. There's also a fair smattering of comedy, which helps make up for the occasional plot-hole.

The other story, Revenge of the Cybermen, is fairly typical of the early Tom Baker years – an adequate story, told in a less-than-convincing manner. This story is most famous for it's extensive use of innuendo – it kind of belies the “G” rating…

Overall, I wasn't disappointed.

"Great episodes for great price"

These are some great stories. Tom Baker's one is probably the worst of all of the Cybermen stories but it's still enjoyable. Silver Nemesis is one of McCoys best stories in my opinion.

Two different cyber men stories with vastly different doctor who's. More for the fans than new Doctor Who converts…

Description

The Fourth Doctor and the Seventh Doctor do battle with the deadly Cybermen in these two classic adventures, including Doctor Who's 25th anniversary celebration story!

This 2 DVD set includes Silver Nemesis, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor, and Revenge of the Cybermen, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor.

In Revenge of the Cybermen (1975), the Time Lords' Time Ring takes the Doctor, Sarah and Harry back to the Nerva Beacon space-station, but to a period many thousands of years earlier than their previous visit (The Ark in Space). There, the Cybermen are preparing an elaborate plan to destroy Voga – the fabled Planet of Gold – which was crucial to stopping them in their last war against humanity… Sarah ends up poisoned by a Cybermat, while the Doctor is forced to carry a planet-cracking Cyberbomb.

In Silver Nemesis (1988), the Doctor and Ace visit England in 1988, where three rival factions – the Cybermen, a group of surviving Nazis, and a 17th Century sorceress named Lady Peinforte – are attempting to gain control of a statue made of a living metal, validium, that was created by Rassilon as the ultimate defence for Gallifrey. But the Doctor knows a lot more than he's letting on – and so does Lady Peinforte, who has found out the secret answer to the ultimate question: Doctor who?

These two stories fill in key pieces of Doctor Who history – the first sighting of the Cybermen's vulnerability to gold, and the first acknowledgement of the scale of the Doctor's great secret… which is now paying off yet again twenty-five years later.
