A must for all parents of boys in New Zealand to have. Very easy reading that is informative and relevant to education in NZ. A recommended read to help parents support their boys and to get the best from them and the school system.

About the Author

Michael Irwin has over 30 years’ experience in working with boys, as a teacher, principal and Scout leader. He is currently a senior lecturer in Education at Massey University in Auckland, and his doctoral thesis investigated the way we educate boys in New Zealand.

 

Author Biography:

After teaching at the Catholic University of Lublin and the University of Lodz, both in Poland, at the University of Tokyo and at Smith College in the United States, Michael Irwin moved to the University of Kent, in Canterbury, where he became Professor of English, specialising in eighteenth and nineteenth-century literature. His published eighteenth-century work includes a full-length study of Fielding and essays that take in Defoe, Richardson, Sterne, Smollett, Johnson and Pope.
