English indie rock giants Kaiser Chiefs return with their fifth album, influenced by the state of their homeland: seven years into a recession, people desperate for work, debt-ridden, suspicious of corporations, big business, government, and eager for signs of compassion, understanding, hope.
Reinvigorated and recharged, the band have returned to the same methods and thought processes used while writing debut record, ‘Employment’. First album to feature new member, Vijay Mistry. The album title is a reference to Tony Blair’s famed 2005 speech on the power of education.
The album was recorded in Atlanta, Georgia — a move that gave the band the opportunity to view themselves from a new perspective. Produced by Ben H. Allen III, known for his work with Gnarls Barkley, Cee-Lo Green, Animal Collective, Deerhunter and Youth Lagoon. Mixed at Electric Lady Studios by Michael Brauer (My Morning Jacket, Pet Shop Boys, Coldplay).
Vocalist, Ricky Wilson, currently a judge on this season's run of The Voice in the UK, introducing the band and their music to a wider audience. The album features actor Bill Nighy reading a poem on the track “Cannons”.
