Happy Hour is a compilation album of the best music tracks from the TVONE series of the same name, featuring iconic entertainer Temuera Morrison, the Modern Maori Quartet (James Tito, Matariki Whatarau, Fran Kora, Maaka Pohatu) and special guest performances from Jason Kerrison, Scribe, Annie Crummer and Savage.
A mixture of studio and live tracks, the album is a musical journey down a retro cool lane harking back to the great era of the Maori Showbands. "I grew up watching the greats like my uncle Howard” says Temuera Morrison “so to get an opportunity like this is amazing”. From reworked Kiwi classics such as “One Day”, “Not Many”, “Swing” and “For Today” through to covers of some of the world’s biggest hits like Pharrel’s “Happy” and Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me”, not to forget a number of heartland classics such as the seminal “Slipping Away”, “Whakaaria Mai” and “Here is My Heart”; Happy Hour is the ultimate summertime, feel good album.
Produced by Mahuia Bridgman-Cooper with the assistance of Franklin Rd studios and Dixon Nacey, Happy Hour puts an old school twist on the songs that will have you singing along and tapping your toe at the same time.
