Madame Bovary
Desperate to escape the dullness of provincial life, Emma Bovary (Mia Wasikoswka, Tracks) is a young beauty who impulsively marries a small town doctor to leave her father’s pig farm far behind. Bored by her husband, yet dependent on him to cover the debts she has raised through lavish purchases, Madame Bovary pursues forbidden fantasies through a series of indiscreet seductions and adulterous affairs.
Critic Reviews
- " A faithful adaptation of the mythical novel that stands out thanks to it's great production values. " – Javier Ocaña
- " For all the talk of romance, this is a Madame Bovary that's grounded in the real – in the sounds and colors of Emma's world, in its material limitations and splendors. " – Bilge Ebiri
- " A calm, naturalistic experience, Madame Bovary is refreshingly analog. " – Blake Goble
