"Simply The Best Game I Have Ever Played"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

If you enjoy the Final Fantasy and the Pokemon franchises your in for a treat !

i simply cant express how much fun this game is !! I brought a PS3 Just for it haha and i have 0 regrets.

Full of laughs and tears, this game has it all.

Estimated time of 70+ Hours to complete all aspects of the game. (50+ for the main story )

And As below the question about the languages. Ni No Kuni Is in English and Japanese with English subs. You can switch between the two at any time. ( i prefer the Japanese ) as the Welsh and Scotish accents get annoying

"Great Game - Honest Review"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Loved it, A very well made game, looks beautiful and has a fun story. Very Similar game play to a lot of the Final Fantasy games with a bit of a Pokemon twist in there. It's only let downs are: Most of the game is spend reading un-skip able dialog, this can be a good thing if you are trying to learn to read, but this brings me to the next let down, the dialog has a lot of slang in it, making it difficult to read at times. Still, I adore the game and if I could go back in time before I bought it, I would still buy it.

"An exceptionally brilliant video game"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch can best be described as a breath of fresh air in the video gaming community. It encapsulates many gaming series' such as Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Zelda – even Kingdom Hearts to some extent and blends them together into one incredible gaming experience.

The overall presentation is thoroughly polished with magnificent graphics encompassing vast and differing environments from Sahara-esque deserts to Arctic coasts and tropical archipelagos. The 3-D animations alongside cartoon drawn characters works exceptionally well and the colourful world is aesthetically beautiful.

The creatures in the game (familiars), are equally dynamic ranging in sizes and shapes – typically being animal-like in appearance with unique colours and patterns. What makes it more amazing is the ability to catch, train and metamorphose these familiars into higher and more powerful forms – akin to Pokemon.

The gameplay mechanics are real-time but with the ability to almost pause in mid-battle and quick select magic spells, use provisions etc…at any time during the battle! With the progression of the game, you gain more spells with differing functions to cast and use in battle, adding a further dynamic. The options are endless too with the ability to select your familiars from ones you've previously obtained and really change things around in your party – you can even swap them with your party members.

In terms of longevity, Ni no Kuni's story takes 40–50hrs on Easy difficulty with Normal being anywhere from 50–70hrs. The story is highly engrossing with a plethora of characters being very likeable and again, varied in appearance making an enjoyable fantasy story. Your adventure will comprise of the story, over 100 errands or tasks along with at least 40 bounty hunts where you take on a boss. If that isn't enough, there is an arena at the School of Trials, a casino, the ability to alchemize 134 different items when mixing different ingredients as well as trying to obtain over 300 different familiars.

Fans of RPG and action-adventure games will thoroughly enjoy this but overall, every PS3 owner should at bare minimum, try this out. Anyone from any background or age group would thoroughly enjoy this! You really won't regret picking this up! 9.5/10.

Description

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is the heart-warming tale of a young boy named Oliver, who embarks on a journey into a parallel world to become a wizard in an attempt to bring his mother back from the dead. Along the way, Oliver makes new friends and adopts many of the wonderful creatures that inhabit the world, raising them to battle other creatures on his behalf as he takes on formidable enemies.

Features:

  • An RPG born from the talent of two legendary studios – Ni no Kuni combines the renowned LEVEL-5 video game studio with the animation of the world class team at Studio Ghibli, and the music of the equally legendary Joe Hisaishi, composer on many Ghibli movies. The result is a RPG which expertly fuses these formidable talents.
  • A visually stunning game – During their travels with Oliver, players will be able to immerse themselves in a series of incredible environments, landscapes and cities, as if they were entering an animated movie universe inside a video game.
  • All the ingredients of a RPG and much more – LEVEL-5's mastery of the genre results in a game that offers the best of a RPG and more: a free roaming map, varied transportation systems, a tactical yet easy to handle combat system and a myriad of secondary quests, mini-games and bonuses.
  • A captivating story with anime-like cut-scenes – The player enters the magical universe of Ni no Kuni and begins the journey with Oliver, meeting all kinds of people on the way. Yoshiyuki Momose from Studio Ghibli supervised the storyboards for the in-game cut-scenes and provided stage directions for the motion capture sequences, bringing all his expertise from the animation world to bear on the game's story.
