‘Passion’ is Peter Gabriel's remarkable musical collage soundtrack to Martin Scorsese's controversial movie, ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’ and in 1990 was a Grammy Award winner.
An utterly amazing album, ‘Passion’ is full of ambient brooding rhythms and sounds. The music has subtle mystery which at times builds into a powerful moving force. ‘Passion’ was a groundbreaking achievement for Gabriel and company, paving the way for world music up to it's current popularity.
Contributors include Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Youssou N'Dour, and Baaba Maal on vocals, Shankar on double violin, Billy Cobham and Hossam Ramzy on percussion and a host of other fine players on instruments, ranging from ney flute, doudouk through to modern keyboards and guitars. Throughout the intertwining melodies and rhythms, Gabriel controls the production with all the skill of the finest of artists.
