"Gory Fun!"

Resi: Mercs 3D is a really fun and enjoyable fast-paced romp through recent Resi locations. No plot or puzzles slow this one down, it's just pure, bloddy, murderous fun!

"Not a proper title, but still fun"

Pros:

  • Rich beautiful 3D graphics. I'm talking about the kind you'd find on the PSP, which definitely was a shock to me.
  • Decent gameplay. Good controls, would have liked more variety in weapons and combat skills though (influences from Street Fighter for example).
  • Has a playable demo for the upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations. Only showcasing gameplay though.

Cons:

  • Unable to delete save data. Only ‘commercial’ way to get around this is to get the NDS Adapter Plus device, which can delete the save.
  • No real storyline, and lack of new content. There's definitely enough characters and maybe missions/stages, but it isn't enough to keep the experience fresh and rewarding. It gets repetitive way too quickly. I would have liked it if there were a proper story and you would take on enemies without the pressure of a time limit. But I guess that will be in Revelations anyway. :)
  • Camera system is awkward and limited, making the game clunky and hard to get used to.

In my opinion, this doesn't really qualify to be a proper game. It's more of an expanded technical demo, and should have been released cheaper as a ‘ware’ (such as DSiWare) through the eShop or otherwise cheaper in ‘general’.

"The Good And The Bad"

Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D.

This will be a list of pros/cons.

Pros

It shows what kind of graphic's the 3DS is capable of even in it's early life cycle.

Intense action against the “ganados & Manjini” of Resident Evil 4/5.

Sneak peak demo look at the next Resident Evil for the Nintendo 3DS ( Resident Evil Revelations) which see's the return of the classic slow paced survival horror gameplay of old RE'S of the past returning to its roots instead of the action orientated 4/5.

Play as one of the many playable characters from the cool i'm wearing sunglasses in the dark Wesker to the greatest character ever Barry Burton aka man who says “Jill Sandwich”

Cons

Not enough content/ no story mode. Cannot delete save file unless you have a NDS adapter plus.Personally I don't have a problem with this. No leader boards.

Resident Evil the mercenaries 3D may turn others away but being a huge fan of the series since the 1996 original i'll play it regardless. On a special note regarding Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City don't judge it before you try it none of you guys have any idea on how it plays give it a chance and stop complaining.

Description

Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D delivers the intense Mercenaries gameplay experience on a handheld console. Featuring re-mastered stages from Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, it's a race against time as players try to defeat as many enemies as possible before the countdown reaches zero. The fast-paced, combat intensive action of Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D is available both as a solo experience or gamers across the world can team up and enjoy two-player co-op via network play.

Gamers will have the opportunity to tackle the game's missions with legendary Resident Evil characters from past and present. These include Chris Redfield, Krauser, Hunk and, making her debut in a Mercenaries game, Claire Redfield.

While the gameplay will be familiar to those who have previously played Mercenaries, changes have been implemented to the stages and characters have been transformed to full 3D, the addition of the ability to move and shoot adds new gameplay tactics, and the addition of touch screen functionality improves access to the inventory and game map.

Features:
  • Fan favorite Resident Evil Mercenaries mode, in 3D and on a handheld for the first time
  • Fast-paced, combat-heavy Resident Evil action
  • 2 player co-op gameplay with Ad Hoc and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection
  • Reworked missions from the original with new placement of enemies and objects
  • Choose from legendary past and present Resident Evil characters, including for the first time in Mercenaries, Claire Redfield
