The F8F Bearcat was one of the most powerful US Navy propeller-driven fighters. However towards the end of the Second World War, due to late deliveries, it ceased to be used. This light fighter interceptor reached a maximum speed of 682 km/h, but at the beginning of the 1950s it went out of service to be replaced by jets. In 1951, some of the retired Bearcats were delivered to the French Air Force and used in the war in Indo-China.
