"Atonement."
5 stars"

This traditional and philosophical anime is all-encompassing of various themes in the field of contemporary Literature. Not only does it explore the conflict created as a result of the birth of the Meiji Era, Rurouni Kenshin displays how a merciless swordsman who slayed thousands with his hands undergoes a spiritual journey in order to protect people not for atonement but to find the true voice of his sword: A sword is not a tool for killing but to express the spontaneous overflow of one's passion in bursts of lightning.

A great anime, story is good, characters are developed well, but the thing that really pisses me off is the action scenes, they are a bit half assed, most of the time its either just flashes and guys falling down (gets overused) or really slow and bad, although theres no constant talking like on Yu Yu Hakusho (Dark Tournament but I guess it needed a commentator) and Dragonball Z (even without a tournament, P.S. The live action movie of this is gonna be horrible) so I guess I can't complain that much, and there are some good fights.

Description

The Meiji Era was one of great renewal for Japan, where swords and killing were outlawed. How-ever, many survivors from the time of Revolu-tion still lived, lurking in the shadows and waiting for a chance to use their killing blades again. Only Kenshin Himura, formerly one of the most brutal of killers, hopes to keep his swordsman's honor and still live in the new era.
