In 2009 Yolande Moreau won Best actress in several awards for her leading role in this wonderful movie. Sensitively portrayed and well worth watching, the life of the tormented Seraphine and her development as an artist are served to us on a pallette of beautiful photography and thought provoking imagery.

The true story of Seraphine, a simple, slow girl who ekes out a living cleaning and washing for others. But she has a secret talent: the Virgin Mary has told her to paint. Her talent is discovered by the same art dealer who discovered Picasso, but war intervenes.
I so wished I had known,met Seraphine, she really touched deep within my soul. I am a self taught artist and she so encouraged me, she managed to captivate my emotions, incredible story, fascinating.
I do not speak French but after watching a couple of great French movies with English subtitles I am well and truly hooked. This is one of the best as I love movies based on true stories. Well acted – Yolande Moreau is a great actress.
