Author Biography

Lochie Teague MBCHB, DCH, FRACP, FRCPA, editor of Starship, is an eminent paediatrician. Raised in Wellington, Lochie graduated from the University of Otago awarded distinction in medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, and surgery. With a determination to tackle the challenge of childhood cancers and greatly improve survival rates, he was destined to pursue a career in paediatric oncology. He joined the staff of Starship in January 1992, where he has been ever since. He became clinical director of Paediatric Haematology/Oncology in 1998, a position he still holds. His major clinical and research interests include bone marrow and cord blood transplantation, leukaemia, and bleeding disorders. He is the Starship principal investigator for the Children's Oncology Group, an international collaboration dedicated to improving the outcomes for all children with cancer. Lochie has witnessed the evolution of Starship from its inception and been a member of the team of staff who are dedicated to delivering world class specialist health services.
