I love Gorrilaz. They rev my engine. Alot of the songs are instrumental and are perfect for a doobie and a nice day on the deck.

When you look back at a career that has spanned just over 10 years, Gorillaz have done some incredible albums. When it came around to Christmas time in 2010, they announced that they would be releasing an album that was recorded purely on an iPad. The catch was, it was only released to Gorillaz fan group members. So the rest of us had to wait until April 18th to get our hands on the new album.
To be perfectly honest, it is not that great. With songs that are only 2:30 long, and songs with looping beats, it is certainly not the best they could have done.
So in summary, it is an album for older Gorillaz fans, and not for new fans.
The Fall was initially released for free online for members of the Gorillaz fan club – mainly because it wasn't considered a full album. The album is only 45 minutes long, was solely created on an iPad and is quite rough around the edges.
That said, it is a fantastic album, if viewed as a Tour Diary through music. Guests who toured with Gorillaz are featured on some of the tracks and so are snippets from phone calls, jam sessions and more. It's an interesting insight into a unique ‘band’. Phoner to Arizona is definitely my favourite track, with Revolving Doors a close second.
Verdict: Great tracks but if you're expecting a full album, you'll be sorely disappointed. I advise taking the time to listen to it from start to finish and enjoy the experience.
