Great adventure story. Worth watching.
This was one of the best TV series I've seen from the BBC in a long time. A good blend of action, history and romance with witty one liners and plot twists. If you enjoyed the musketeer movies from years ago then you will love this modern reboot of the story. Very slick acting, realistic historical settings, likeable heroes and scene steeling villains, I was thoroughly addicted from episode one. Can't wait to see the second series. All for one and one for all!
As a child the Muskateers have been one of my favourite reads. BBC have done a great job making this a great success.
Complete first season of The Musketeers, a British historical-action drama TV series on DVD (4 discs).
On the streets of 17th century Paris, law and order is more a fledgling idea than reality, and the Musketeers, Athos, Aramis and Porthos, are far more than merely royal bodyguards for King Louis XIII; they are inseparable, loyal unto death and committed to upholding justice. Together, this crack team of highly trained soldiers fight for honour, for valour, for love, and just for the pure thrill of it. When d’Artagnan arrives in Paris to avenge his father’s death he soon impresses the three Musketeers with his bravery and skill and quickly discovers kindred spirits in these boisterous soldiers. In a series all about passion, loyalty, heroism and brotherhood, d’Artagnan and the Musketeers face a continuing struggle to maintain order and protect the King and Queen, while outwitting the machinations of the shadowy Cardinal Richelieu as he ruthlessly strives to achieve his vision of a modern France along with his hired assassin, the beautiful but mysterious Milady de Winter.

The Musketeers Series Reviews
“A well-acted romp that carries just enough weight to justify tuning in, The Musketeers is a campy delight; no one ever hands over a blade when tossing one with a flourish will do, and this time, that’s just as it should be.” The A.V. Club
“While the series is not without humor–including the occasional sexual witticism–it is never camp, a huge plus for devotees of genuine drama.” Wall Street Journal
“Refreshingly realistic in some ways (there is much jumping out of high windows, but the jumper is often actually injured) and soothingly romantic in others, "The Musketeers” is a captivating balance of spectacle and story, true enough to the essentials of the original, modern enough to understand the necessity of humor and self-reference." Los Angeles Times
“The adventure is good, the characters are better than good, and the playful, often insulting repartee is something you might hear from college buddies on holiday in Cabo. These Musketeers are worth a bite.” New York Daily News
