"Interesting and weird"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

A look into Auri's life, its interesting and strange. For fans of the series its a great short novel to hold you over until the next release.

"Beautiful and sweet"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This book is a companion novella to Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles series.

It's a weird little tale about a very unique and enigmatic character from the main series. The language is beautifully poetic and charming.

Although be warned; people who have not read the other two (so far) books in the series MAY not “get it”.

"Not your average story"
5 stars"

If you are a fan of Rothfuss' books, then you are going to love this. If you have a love of storytelling, you are going to love this. If you want to experience something different, you are going to love this.

Otherwise, you probably won't love this books.

Description

The University, a renowned bastion of knowledge, attracts the brightest minds to unravel the mysteries of enlightened sciences like artificing and alchemy. Yet deep below its bustling halls lies a complex and cavernous maze of abandoned rooms and ancient passageways - and in the heart of it all lives Auri. Formerly a student at the University, now Auri spends her days tending the world around her. She has learned that some mysteries are best left settled and safe. No longer fooled by the sharp rationality so treasured by the University, Auri sees beyond the surface of things, into subtle dangers and hidden names. At once joyous and haunting, THE SLOW REGARD OF SILENT THINGS is a rich, atmospheric and lyrical tale, featuring one of the most beloved characters from Rothfuss' acclaimed fantasy series.

Author Biography

Patrick Rothfuss had the good fortune to be born in Wisconsin in 1973, where the long winters and lack of cable television encouraged a love of reading and writing. After abandoning his chosen field of chemical engineering, Pat became an itinerant student, wandering through clinical psychology, philosophy, medieval history, theatre and sociology. Nine years later, Pat was forced by university policy finally to complete his undergraduate degree in English. When not reading and writing, he teaches fencing and dabbles with alchemy in his basement. Patrick Rothfuss is an award-winning as well as SUNDAY TIMES and NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author.
