Amazing picture and sound and at an incredible price you simply cant not have this piece of cinema history not in your bluray collection.
i first saw this movie on dodgy vhs video way back when vhs was in its early days. it was all we had of course. what a movie. made on a shoe string budget that could barely keep the crew and actors in pay each week it proved you can still make movies that resonate with all the quiet fears that dwell inside everyday people. the fear that any one of us could suddenly be caught in a truly terrifying situation we had no way of anticipating and don't know how to deal with. superb movie that is graphic by what it leaves out rather than what you actually witness on screen. the true horror is in the viewers mind. dan.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 40th anniversary edition, 1974 American slasher film on Blu-ray, directed by Tobe Hooper.
A tale far too horrific to be real – a van full of friends, a dusty back road in Texas, the thud of a mallet, the buzz of a chainsaw, muted screams and the tearing of flesh… Considered by many as the bloody benchmark of horror movies, the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a visceral experience like none other. Inspired by the real-life story of murderer Ed Gein, it follows five young students who unwittingly meet up with a sinister hitchhiker (Edwin Neal) and stumble across a house of horrors where mask-wearing maniac Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen) rules with a wooden mallet and the ultimate weapon of torture – a whirring chainsaw. Now, presented with 40th anniversary special features, Tobe Hooper’s horror classic arrives completely restored and remastered in a vivid eye-popping 4K high-definition transfer – sharp enough to tear your nerves to shreds!
