A must have for any kid who grew up watching the transformers animated series, but be prepared to either learn Japanese or spend a few hours working out the transformations.

While the hefty price tag is daunting, as soon as I opened the box I realised just how big and heavy these Constructicons actually are. The alt modes are nothing startling, and are really just homages to their G1 counterparts as they lack virtually all of the articulation found on the G1 toys. The instructions, while in Japanese, are at least black images on a white background. I found them quite easy to follow and no one took more than a few minutes to transform. Scrapper, Hook and Scavenger look amazing in their robot modes, and all six are capable of myriad poses; only gripe here is Bonecrusher's pel­vic area. On my one, it doesn't lock together properly which results in him doing the splits a lot. Weird part is the one in the instructions also looks like it doesn't lock in properly either! However, this doesn't affect Devastator at all. He took about half a hour to combine and the result is big, heavy and remarkably stable in a variety of poses. It also looks positively menacing, just as Devastator should. Only one gripe here, and that's his hands. You'd think individually moving fingers would have been easy, but instead you get hands that just clasp, and they don't hold his gun very well. All up, the set is both incredibly fun to play with and look at. Highly recommended for any fan of G1 Devastator, and people who like terrorising their cat with gigantic robot dolls.
