Description

A Buddha From Byron draws together a tangle of main characters, each a damaged victim of circumstance and the discourtesies of others. Their interaction creates unexpected choices for each of them. Unexpected choices, with unexpected consequences. Some good, some bad. What a Buddhist would call karma. Astrologists call turning thirty `The Saturn Return'. They say it will shake you to awake you. Witnessing a murder and being abducted will do that too. Amaranth Vaughan has always accepted being bullied and used, until the night it became life-threatening. That's where her line was drawn. There's always a risk in resistance, and harm lurks in the shadow of escape, but when you find yourself in danger, you find yourself.

Author Biography:

Sunion Matheson settled in Byron Bay in the 1980s and raised his family there. For over a decade prior to that, he travelled alone all over Australia, bush and city, working in a wide variety of jobs, exploring new experiences, and encountering a breadth of people with a diverse catalogue of confusion and pain. He was always an ardent supporter of anyone seeking freedom and the courage to be themselves, and he expressed that in the lyrics of his music, in the plays he's written, and in this novel.
