The book is going to tell the story about Kim. Kim was raised in the projects of L.A. She felt she had to do something to get her family out of there. Kim's father left home early in her life because her mother was doing drugs. That left Kim to take care of her family. One afternoon, she comes home and found the lights were off. Kim had a gold locket that her father had given her. She decided to pawn it so that they would have food in the house. When she came from the store, they ate dinner under candle light.
