Awesome family movie. Enjoyed the movie very much.
Having read the book with my son, we were eager to see this adaption to the screen. He enjoyed the movie (he's 9), but I consider this to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It was boring, illogical, and lacked the magic, charm, and thoughtfulness of the book. The special effects were fun, but they didn't really seem to serve a purpose within the movie – they felt unnecessary within the plot – and they missed some great opportunities provided for in the original book. Overall, really disappointed in this movie, I don't recommend it.
