"An under-rated masterpiece."

Purchased on Mighty Ape

Probably the best 3PS I've played next to Freedom Fighters. The gameplay's just addictive fun and works really well. Good score, excellent voice acting. Good variety of weapons to suit your playstyle, and you will will feel like a god and saviour of the world at the end.

I'm a little surprised it didn't review better… It suffers from some minor technical glitches and a few instability problems, but the frequent check point system means that's just not really an issue. This is on my “must play” list, and I'm thirsting for the next two in the trilogy.

For $30, you'd be a monkey to not buy this. If you want a cinematic storyline with solid third person shooter gameplay, then get this now. You won't be dissapointed.

"HEAPS of fun, sorely underrated!"

This was re-released recently on Steam which is how I came to encounter it. It's a flawed jewel in many ways but still a helluva good time – third person shooter fun with lots of weapons and psychic powers to wreak havoc with. Great story, good voice acting, great looking graphics (not that you'd know it from the screenshots posted here :-] ) but perhaps a little short (it's meant to be the 1st in a trilogy, but like the other reviewer said – its hype and the fact that it was badly buggy on release ended up sabotaging its sales, so it's uncertain if the other installments will be made)… not short like HL2: Episode 1 or anything, but if I'd paid full price I'd be miffed. But I didn't, and neither will you. It's fun, get it if you like fun at a bargain price! :)

Advent Rising is a 3rd person, action/adventure game presented in a stunning cinematic format that delivers an unprecedented variety of addictive game play experiences. Built on the Unreal Warfare Engine, it offers precise, refined play-dynamics with action-packed adventure and style, wrapped in a visually imaginative universe. Advent Rising is akin to a fast-paced action movie where the player is swept up in a continuously evolving series of sequences and events.

In Advent, a common legend pervades the galaxy—that of a powerful, ancient race that will one day unite the universe. Millions of cultures from vastly distant worlds revere and hallow these mythological beings, these humans.

The Seekers alone do not share these legends, for they know the truth—humans exist. Threatened by the potential power of these humans, the Seekers are doing all they can to eradicate them. Under the guise of benevolent explorers they spread methodically throughout the galaxy, destroying any human society they unearth. As Gideon Wyeth, a remnant of the last human outpost, you are about to discover the incredible powers that lay dormant within you—the powers the Seekers are so desperate to suppress.
