One of the most challenging games I've experienced so far, Learning to use the different controls, movements etc, definitely worth it. Some people may find it easy, but if your sick of the same old games that you clock in 2 hours then this is the game to buy!

"good game "
4 stars"

this game is very similar to most horrer themed games and had a silent hill feeling to it,but still a playable game and worth a go if you like fire you can play with it in this game in more ways than most make your own molotovs its great fun and you can make a useless empty bottle with tape to just for fun.

"Can be completed by anyone."

Alone in the Dark is a prestigious franchise. A pioneer of horror games dating from back on the PC through to the current next-gen systems.

The Limited Edition bundle is very impressive, the figure/statue is roughly 14 cm high and looks decent, the soundtrack and bonus dvd are well made, the artbook is well bound and larger than most art books that come with games. i.e. Gear of War Collector's Edition.

That said, the game itself is hard to describe. Firstly, the game can be completed by anyone. There is a DVD-like menu feature, so if you're stuck you can skip forward a little bit via the menu. Also, should you skip an entire chapter it will update you with a “Previously on Alone in the Dark…” movie clip.

The controls themselves are interesting, if not slightly clunky at times. Sometimes I had issues equipping and unequipping items on the fly. Which can be hard, as time does not stop while you open your inventory.

The story itself is dark and gritty and definitely for a mature audience. This is the strong suite of the game.

If you are keen on the franchise or a lover of the horror genre, this will be a worthy addition and for the extra couple dollars, a much better package than just the game alone.

Collector's Edition includes:

Central Park is hiding a secret. Built as a safe haven not only for the people of New York, but for something else entirely, generations of guardians have long protected the truth, preserving the vast parkland while the most expensive city in the world reached skyward on its fringes. Now the truth can no longer be contained, and paranormal investigator Edward Carnby finds himself inexplicably cast into the eye of the storm as over the course of one apocalyptic night he must uncover the earth-shattering secret behind Central Park. New York will never be the same again.

Inspired by the gripping style of contemporary TV dramas, the game delivers a new degree of narrative intensity, presented as a complete season format of episodes each containing action, twists and cliff-hangers. Bursting with innovative technology, including unprecedented environmental interaction, revolutionary physics, advanced artificial intelligence, stunning visuals, and uniquely immersive user interface, Alone in the Dark breaks gaming clichés to fulfil the next-gen promise and deliver a new kind of entertainment experience.
