Alone in the Dark is a prestigious franchise. A pioneer of horror games
dating from back on the PC through to the current next-gen systems.
The Limited Edition bundle is very impressive, the figure/statue is roughly
14 cm high and looks decent, the soundtrack and bonus dvd are well made, the
artbook is well bound and larger than most art books that come with games. i.e.
Gear of War Collector's Edition.
That said, the game itself is hard to describe. Firstly, the game can be
completed by anyone. There is a DVD-like menu feature, so if you're stuck you
can skip forward a little bit via the menu. Also, should you skip an entire
chapter it will update you with a “Previously on Alone in the Dark…”
The controls themselves are interesting, if not slightly clunky at times.
Sometimes I had issues equipping and unequipping items on the fly. Which can be
hard, as time does not stop while you open your inventory.
The story itself is dark and gritty and definitely for a mature audience.
This is the strong suite of the game.
If you are keen on the franchise or a lover of the horror genre, this will be
a worthy addition and for the extra couple dollars, a much better package than
just the game alone.
