With her husband Saro (Mario Pupella) running a shop acting as a front for a drugs operation, Angela (Donatella Finocchiaro) is literally married to the mob. Participating in her husband's business by delivering drugs disguised in shoeboxes, Angela is however relegated to the sidlines, a peripheral figure in a potentially dangerous world. All that changes when Masino (Andre di Stefano) appears and turns her world on its head.
Ingratiating himself to Saro, Masino forms a more hazardous liaison with Angela. Both become aware that this affair poses a dangerous threat to their livelihoods - and more importantly to their lives. Angela shows Mafia life purely from the female perspective and as such offers an inventive take on the genre. Based on true-life events from the mid-80s, it's a gripping, distinguished work of passion and intrigue.
