In accordance with the principles of its foundation, the Laboratory of the American Medical Association concerns itself primarily with the examination of those proprietary and unofficial medicinal prepara tions which the Council has under consideration. The Laboratory determines whether the claims made for the composition of these preparations are truthful, and establishes standards whereby the identity and purity of remedies admitted to the Council's publica tion New and Nonofficial Remedies may be deter mined.
