"A single word to describe AQ would be FUN!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Arcadia Quest is casual dungeon crawling at its finest. It avoids those situations of someone having the be the bad guy in 4v1 and it's just easy to get 4 people together that just want to chuck some dice. The game is just as good with 2 as it is with 4 and never takes itself too seriously.

Your characters are cute and interesting and each has their own personality almost. The minis are great quality and there is endless replayability outside the set campaigns in the book.

A fun, light game that can be played by anyone. I highly recommend and can't wait for AQ:I later in the year

"Diablo for the board game enthusiast"

Purchased on Mighty Ape

Arcadia Quest is by far one of my favourite board games. Its a dungeon crawler with the industry's top quality models (better than anything from FFG and Games Workshop). The gameplay itself is heaps of fun but requires a minimum of 3 players and preferably 4 (even though it says on the box that the game can be played by 2 players).

The most fun of this type of game is the buying phase between rounds. During a round, you accumulate gold and during the buy phase you can use that gold to purchase up to 3 pieces of gear. There is a drafting phase that you select 6 pieces of gear. That means you can use 3 selections to deny your opponents gear they might find useful. This mini-game is heaps of fun!

The core set has everything needed to play a game. However, this game really benefits from the many expansions. The first expansion I recommend is Beyond the Grave (BtG). I also recommend getting more retail character packs and all of the Dragons.

There are not enough dice in this core set alone especially when your heroes level up. One way to get more dice is to just purchase the Arcadia Quest: Inferno (AQ:I). I don't like AQ:I so cannot personally recommend it. There are dice packets but I think they are a bit pricey.

If you have access to a 3d printer, I highly recommend printing out some components that enhance the gameplay experience. 3D Doors for instance are a great feature. Https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2388083 Just checkout thingiverse and search for arcadia quest to see the many things that you can print.

Overall, this is a great game that is well worth the purchase. This game is also great for children especially as an alternative to video games.

Description

In Arcadia Quest, players lead guilds of intrepid heroes on an epic campaign to dethrone the vampire lord and reclaim the mighty Arcadia for their own. But only one guild may lead in the end, so players must battle against each other as well as against the monstrous occupying forces.

Arcadia Quest is a campaign-based game for 2 to 4 players, where each player controls a guild of three unique heroes, facing off against the other players and the various monsters controlled by the game. Players need to accomplish a series of quests in order to win each scenario and choose where to go next in the campaign.

Players are able to choose the path their campaign takes, navigating through six out of eleven available scenarios, so each time the campaign is played it can have a different configuration of scenarios. As the campaign progresses, the heroes are able to acquire new weapons, equipment and abilities that give them powerful options to tackle the obstacles ahead. Furthermore, by fulfilling specific quests in a scenario, players unlock exclusive features in subsequent scenarios.
