I found the grain to be too rough, causing visible file lines to the miniature when working on them. They are not what is pictured! Actually very shiny and rough dotted grains.
I used to use the GW brand ones from the 90s that look like the picture. However these don't match I'd advise looking for ones that have a much finer grain for working with miniatures. These cause more harm than good.
If you want them for roughing up surfaces and intent to leave the file lines then these are perfect. I'd call them weathering an battle damage files.
Filing down plastic sprue bits and mold lines will scratch your plastic minis up leaving you with a very rough surface. Good only for roughing up plastic/resin to get better glue bonding. Terrible for filing minis.
The original fileset offers excellent value and quality for all modellers and wargamers. The 3 files are the most commonly used shapes and will help you clean and prepare your models for assembly as well as nicely remove mould lines. Works perfect with both metal, resin and plastic miniatures.
Three most popular and useful file shapes.
Perfect for white metal and plastic miniatures.
The original hobby file set.
