The local sheriff gives them a pretty free hand in their investigations. They face life's problems and pleasures with good will, a positive attitude and a wonderful measure of good humor. The stories are as much about the wonderful characters as bringing the bad guys to justice - although they are as perceptive a bunch of sleuths as have ever graced the pages of a mystery.
