"The best the series has been in a while, but still imperfect."
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I was hesitant to play Syndicate after the screw up that was Unity. I was a huge fan of the series, owning books, games and merchandise, but it slowly dissolved after each game became less and less interesting. Black Flag was the exception, but that's because it wasn't the typical Assassins Creed story. Syndicate however is a return to form, which a fantastic setting with London and two fantastic new antagonists that had life in them. They were new and fresh, which made the story enjoyable.

The problems with this game are all pretty much the same as the rest of the franchise, with clunky controls while free-running makes some tasks frustrating when your character runs in a different direction. Or the collect-a-phon of objects that appear on the map that get boring after a while. Or having to do the same style of missions over and over to “liberate” sections of the map from enemy gangs. These are all the same issues that began around AC3, and with Syndicate being the 9th game in the franchise, you would think they would have resolved these issues by now.

Overall the story is good, the characters are great, and the environments are beautiful. But if you had given up on this franchise because of how repetitive they are, Syndicates not going to fix that. But if you are a fan of the franchise, Syndicate is a great addition on par with Black Flag.

"Great"
5 stars"

I got this game from ebgames for there special edition or whatever. This game is a ton better than unity, so much to do in the game.. I am extremely happy that they decided to get rid of multiplayer in this one and focus on the game as a whole. 10/10 would recommend.

"Awesome Game!"
4 stars"

I am a big assassins creed fan, with having played the games and read the books so was excited to play this new one! It was awesome- loved the addition of the grapple hook (which makes it hard to go back to the other games without it) and loved the option to swap between characters. A lot to collect, as soon as I had finished the story there was little motivation to collect everything else but enjoyed the game never the less!

"Dont buy it."
1 stars"

This game seems good on the surface but its not. First off, the combat loses what made the other games good. The challenge to fight 20 enemies without getting hit was awesome. The other games were about getting the perfect timing to make a strike, but now it is just a button bash game. There is still timing involved and the combat is ok, but its not original anymore, just a repetitive mediocre fighting game. It has some cool moves but the combat animations are less quality than some of the original games.

The stealth is the worst its ever been. It sticks to the wall automatically and its hard to move around in cover, not to mention that when you try to go the other way, the camera stays in the same direction.

The driving is clumsy and while its ok when you are going slow, they keep reassuring the horse every 10 seconds which gets annoying quickly.

The gun physics are useless. Sometimes you shoot an enemy 6 times to finish them, where in the beginning it was one shot. Even if you get a headshot, the enemy just loses some life and runs over to fight you. It even gets worse if you buy some dlc, because then everytime you start the game up it will spend a minute reminding you what items you have bought, which interferes with the map.

Its a shame because the story and characters are good. There are also some good features like train robberies, the grappling hook and free running down buildings, but the game is just too poorly designed and badly thought out that its just constantly frustrating. It could have been much better, but as it is, it is the worst assassins creed game yet. (I haven't played Unity though).

"As bad as unity"
2 stars"

When i first played Unity on day 1. I had to turn it off it was that bad and wait for the updates to roll out. Now with Syndicate. Im up to sequence 4 and had to restart it 4 times because the idiot driver would drive into a wall and just pause. Also the fighting in the cart is terrible. And just all the fighting in general. If your up against a wall it just repeats the same attack.

This series has finally ended for me. All ended at Black Flag

I have played most assassins creed games and the humorous tone this game portrayed was a welcome breath of fresh air and London as a setting is marvelous

"Better than unity"

Taking you back to the later assassin games on ps3 with a slight twist of carriage drifting. Good game overall. But just another assassins creed game in a long line of assassins creed games that haven't changed much at all since brotherhood. Still overall a much better game than unity. Albeit with all your usual ubisoft glitches. But this is assassins creed so it's to be expected.

"Like the old London theme"

Streets well done. Lots small missions, all the gadgets are fun. Big fan of the assassin's games

"Good addition to franchise, loses novelty quickly"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Overall a good game and not a bad one to have in any game collection, initially its a great game with all the new features, weapons and characters, the grappling hook is a great addition and makes moving around the map less tedious than previous AC titles, it had me completely absorbed for a couple of hours, however after completing a few missions and taking over a few areas the novelty was gone, becomes quite repetitive quickly so stay focused on your missions or you will find yourself putting the game down and then being very hesitant to pick it back up again. If your a fan of the series then you will love this one as it is a refreshing change to what your used to.

Its Very Good Gameplay, the occasional glitch/lag but other than that great gameplay, awesome story line

After Unity, AC returns with a fun game again. Evie and Jacob are fun characters, crafting is interesting and London is great to explore
