This movie didn't just blur the line between reality and visual effects it removed the line completely then sent it and the viewer to another solar system – Pandora where the story is set.

Although the story line as a whole has been done before, i.e. “Last of the Mohicans”, and “Dances with wolves” it has been nicely built with well rounded characters. Yet detailed enough that you can connect with the situation they are in as you fly, walk and run through landscapes made with more detail than what you can take in, in just one viewing. The graphics make up for the lack of story originality. The story relates so well to the modern day, its no longer just countries that vie for power and superiority, but to companies built on shares, money and greed. Enforcing their ambitions with guns for hire at the same time as trying to rebuild a failed hearts and minds program with the natives.

The movie does run for a long time but at least with the DVD you can take a break. New Zealand's input into such an epically visual movie sets a very high bar, both in 3D and 2D.

There is no way the story writers can leave a fictional solar system so well built after just one movie with sequel possibilities.

Visually outstanding, great storyline. My favorite movie of all time.

This movie is the most awesome movie I have seen for a long time. Saw in 3D at theatre, but enjoyed even more I think in 2D on our own TV at home. It is so believable in fact you can really relate to what is happening in parts of the world today. We should all take a lesson from this movie and try to save the planet not destroy it. After all it is the only home we have.

Decided to check this out after all the hype – the movie itself is really good (can see what some critics sayings it's like dances with wolves or pocahontas, but still it's – it's own story)

Only dissappointment with this dvd is that it has no bonus features – either there isn't any or they are saving it for a re-release later down the track.

Still worth checking out either way.

I have never seen such an amazing film in my life. The graphics and scenes were truly brilliant and I have never seen anything like them before. This Movie was talked about everywhere i went. It had great pictures and the soundtrack from the movie was also a nice piece of music.

Amazing movie, graphic details, story line is so what we as Humans are like, i wont go into that but buy the DVD and watch, u well understand, that what happens in the movie has happen and is happing now on earth, recomend this movie to Familys to watch

I thought I'd watch this, seeing as people are raving about it. And I honestly have no idea why people are saying it's so great. The scenery is brilliant, but that's about the only positive. The characters are one-dimentional, the story is so unoriginal it's laughable, and in some places the graphics were really awkward looking. There are some good parts, but I it was mostly disappointing.

Great movie – was hoping it would have a “making of Avatar” though. Also will look better if you can get Blu-Ray version. Well worth purchasing.

Never get sick of seeing this movie. Visually stunning and cannot wait for a sequel, which I am sure will be forthcoming one day.

It is a great movie really enjoyed it fun to watch. Great effects and just a great movie if you just wants to go into a fantasy.

not bad at all once you work out whats happening with the humans and bluepeople swapping bodies at sleep time.its a very enjoyable movie kids to adults will like this its for everyone

I saw this in 3D at the movies.

Enjoyed it even more in the comfort of my own home. The graphics, colours are vibrant and beautiful.

It's quite a long movie, but the story line is awesome and keeps the watcher engaged. It seems so realistic you almost believe your in the movie.

Avatar changed my life, but there was always Na'vi within me even before the movie released.

This is wonderful movie. I have watched it 3 times already. Mighty Ape you rock. Couldn't ask for better service.

I saw Avatar twice in 3D at the cinema, and each time left me in awe, my friends even laughed at how my jaw was on the floor the whole time while watching it!

I must admit the story line is very cliched, so don't expect much from that, you really only need to look at Avatar to be amazed by it! It is such a ground breaking film, a must see and own for this generation.

I loved Avatar and was fascinated by the modern technology which turned a relativelly simple but modern story into gasps of delight. The use of 3D was so well done and enhanced Pandora's living creatures, its forests and wildlife which contrasted dramatically with the engines and flying machines of the earth people. The cast was so very well chosen and must have enjoyed making such a marvellous film.

Though this is a story which has been told many a time. It was a delight to watch and the special effects were amazing and true. You felt you were there experiencing it all.

I loved seeing the movie again but did not have the same feeling as at the movies – 3D makes you feel you're actually in the movie where the DVD leaves you feeling like you are watching it.

Avatar was great to see again. Only thing that stopped it from getting an excellent was the fact there are no special features!

This movie is inevitably better on the big screen [and in 3D] but a great movie to have at home to watch again, and again, and again…… a love story, a sci-fi story, a fantasy story – totally believable. A bit of a shame about the cliched baddie but who cares?
